Lake Cherokee - Lake Cherokee (also known as Lake Issaquena) is a 320-acre private lake at the edge of the Sumter National Forest near the area known as Tamassee. Lake Cherokee is the largest of several private lakes in the Oconee mountain region. This lake is halfway between the Chattooga River and Lake Jocassee and convenient to the town of Walhalla, the whitewater rafting areas of Long Creek.
