2-421 C - This 1000 Sq.Ft, 2 bedroom, 2 bath cabin is a prime location for the outdoor enthusiast.
For the hiker/naturalist: Start at the front door of the cabin and hike the well maintained "Forest Road" for about 1-1/4 mile along the Tugaloo River through the Brasstown Creek Heritage Preserve (home to a wide variety of Flora & Fauna including several rare species) to the Brasstown Creek ford. The trail continues on the other side of the creek.
For the fisherman: Brasstown Creek is seasonally stocked with Trout by the SCDNR. Walker Creek Ramp is just across the Tugaloo River from the cabin (But a 6-1/2 mi drive) and, according to the GA DNR, this area "Offers offers good seasonal fishing opportunities for walleye, hybrid bass, and striped bass from March through May". Also the Stephens County Park area "Provides good bass fishing along the rip-rap in April. Crappie are frequently caught around the highway bridge pilings and around the culvert on the upstream side of the bridge during the spring."
For the cyclist: A nearly level road (Cooper Road to Barton Mill Road) follows the Tugaloo River from the cabin about 3-1/2 miles to Prather Bridge Road (The last 3/4 mile is gravel). From Prather Bridge Road you can turn right, cross the river and turn right again for an additional 5-1/4 miles along the river on the Georgia side to Yonah Dam. OR from Prather Bridge Road, turn left then right for an additional 4-1/2 miles along River Road to the US 123 bridge OR continue along Cleveland Pike for a 6-3/4 mile ride through rolling hills to US 123 near the Chauga River.
For the history buff: Near the intersection of River Road
& US 123 is the site of "Tugaloo
Town". Now covered by Lake Hartwell this site was first settled around 500
A.D. and occupied by the Cherokee from about 1450 until 1776.
The remains
of the old Tugaloo Indian Mound can be seen just north of the railroad bridge.
At the Prather Bridge Road crossing are the remains of "Prather's
Covered Bridge" which was burned by vandals.

Site or
Jarrett Manor is on the Georgia side about 12 miles from the cabin.
On US 123 south is
Madison Community once the home of revolutionary war hero,
Benjamin Cleveland.
